Visit a club. Find a Toastmaster club close to you in Spain. Each club has different meeting days and times, and its own culture. If you can, feel free to visit more than one to find the one that’s right for you.
Three easy steps
You can become a member of Toastmasters by joining one of our clubs. Find a club close to you and request to be a guest at the next meeting. This will give you a good idea of what the club can offer, and how you can benefit from the Toastmasters program.
When you find your club, ask the vice president membership for a membership application. Fill it out and return it with your dues to the vice president membership. Here is an online version. Each club will have different member fees ranging from €100 to €200 for the full year.
“The club has helped me gain more confidence when speaking in public. It has also contributed to developing my creative and imaginative skills when improvisation is crucial to communicating successfully.
My listening skills and my ability to evaluate in a diplomatic way have improved. I am learning not only from the things done well in the club but also from the mistakes we make because the evaluations and suggestions of improvement give us the suggestions we need to learn more and become better communicators and leaders if we practice enough.”
“Toastmasters has changed my life. In May 2009 I gave a speech at my cousin André’s wedding in front of 500 guests and discovered my passion. I started looking for ways to get speaking skills training, found out about Toastmasters, and it was love at first sight. Being in Madrid at that time I immediately enrolled in two clubs. Since then I haven’t stopped growing and know that with Toastmasters I won’t stop doing so. Today I traing people to help them boost their ideas, communicate them with passion, and thus gain a solid competitive advantage over other people. Without Toastmasters I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
”Toastmasters has helped me to be more self-confident, I have developed my communication skills and I have improved my relationship with my mates and colleagues.”
”Public speaking skills are very much like sports, you need to practice them. If you want to improve, you have to train. The club is a great place to practice or train your skills while you share experiences with other people.
Before joining, I did not use to prepare my speeches or presentations because I thought that there was no need to train. As I went through the first ten projects, the improvement was noticeable.
First you go to school, then to high school, after that to university… and after 15 years studying, you realize that nobody taught you how to prepare your speeches or presentations needed for your job. After that, I had to lead a team…and again, nobody had taught me how to do it. The club helped me to be a better speaker and a better leader.”
”I have learned things I didn’t expect at the beginning, first of all, I learned a lot about leadership, founding a club and creating a team is not an easy task, it requires you to develop some skills that are really useful in your real life: networking, marketing and selling a project, motivating people, mentoring people…
But, I also found out that being successful at a meeting does not only depend on the content of your presentation, delivery techniques are the most important facilitator to reach your audience and get your message across, and here in Toastmasters, I am learning little by little how to improve my delivery techniques, how to communicate better, not only in meetings, but also in my personal life.”
”I suffered from stage fright which is a problem in my career, and I have not overcome it yet. I’m convinced that in order to conquer your fears you need to face them. Toastmasters Bilbao provides me a great environment to practice and improve my skills to face and surmount what prevents me to do my best in my job.”
”The main impact in my life is that I am always looking for an evaluation. Feedback has become a necessity.”
”Toastmasters is providing me with a wide range of useful technical resources on public speaking and leadership, and I am learning and enjoying a lot from the fact of getting out of my comfort zone week after week.”
”Toastmasters has been a great discovery. It appeared in my life to give me the help and inspiration that I needed. Being a member of this enthusiastic club is encouraging me to do my best. I feel that I can develop and improve my skills. Every meeting is a new little challenge. Definitely it helps me in my life and in my job.”
”I work at a university and one of the challenges, and also one of the shortcomings, commonly found in college is making science more attractive for non-scientists. The dynamics of Toastmasters allows me to improve my communication skills to bring the newest research results to a non-expert public.”
”Toastmasters has helped me grow in both professional and personal life. In professional life, as a Manager, I have to participate in quite a few meetings, and although each meeting has its own purpose, there is always a common denominator, listening and communicating ideas, and my participation in a Toastmaster club has taught me how to do it in the right way. Also, as a Manager, I have to lead a team of people, get out the most of them, and that`s something that I have learned through the foundation process of my club.
In personal life, Toastmasters let me meet great people that share same curiosities, be more sociable and also how to listen better to friends and colleagues to make stronger relationships.”
